1 Introduction to Reporting
Banner Day August 7, 2014 Thank you for coming.. Session is to review a sample of existing commonly used BSU reports… Hopefully this will give you an introduction to reports and the data you could access to help you in your jobs.

2 Agenda Majors/Minor Report Graduated by Major Report Enrollment Report
Argos Practice Exercises Survey The Reports we’ll review came about because of data/report requests from various departments over time. Rather than writing an individual report for each request, we tried to create a report with parameters that can be used by a variety of people. The tool we’re using today is Argos. , I’ll show you the reports and then we’ll have time for you to try the exercises. Some of you may already be familiar with Argos and for some this may be your first time. Hopefully everyone will learn something new. Before you leave please complete the survey that is a shortcut on your desktop.

3 Major/Minor Name Banner Id Address Email Address Catalog Year
Classification Student Type Start/End Dates All Program Information Advisor GPA You may recognize as one you’ll see on Web for faculty BSU reports page This report pulls all registered students for the term and whatever other parameters you have selected. The data for this report and most other Argos reports can be extracted into excel for further manipulation including things like filtering, mail merges etc. This report has a huge amount of data in the output. Using the different drop down boxes. you can get the output specific to your needs (Click, to show fields now). (Then talk about Examples of why/how they could use this report.) With the data from this report, you can - students in a particular major, -find out how many registered students in a older catalog year -find the GPA of the registered seniors for a particular major?

4 Graduated by Major ID Name Address Email Address Phone Number
Primary Major Secondary Major Minor The next report, is a list of students who have graduated for a given major for the selected term. Many departments in the past have requested a list so they could contact their alumni, this report puts the data at your fingertips, instead of having to put in a request and waiting for us to run or create a report for you.

5 Enrollment Report College Department Course CRN Max Enrollment
Actual Enrollment Start/End Dates Actual Time Location Instructor This report is also on Web for Faculty and is frequently used across campus and maybe even by you, but in case you’re still using Infobear to view your departments schedules, this may be helpful. You can choose a particular Department or instructor to see all of the courses that meet your selections. (And then… show the list fields available)
