3 Today’s Goals 11/11 Find Expository Article that clearly relates to a topic in Lord of the Flies. Be sure the article is from a reputable source. For example, Library/Gale Database, Major News Companies, etc. If you are unsure about your article, PLEASE let me check it out.

4 Today’s Goals 11/12 Finish Finding your Expository Article (details in rubric) Summarize your article (info from Rubric) Summary/Main Idea Find Author’s Purpose Find Audience’s Benefit Find a substantiated opinion Find an unsubstantiated opinion Why or how your article relate to Lord of the Flies.

5 Pre-AP Today’s Goals: 11/13
I will come around and check articles/summaries. Begin… Writing your own article (Work on this over the weekend!) Looking for/creating images, charts, graphs, etc. Google “graph generator”, “pie chart generator”, etc. for ideas if needed. Be sure to copy down the URLs for each image, graph, and chart, as well as the original article. You will need it for the works cited.

Write, peer review, and/or polish the article you are writing. If that is completed…. Begin working on your SAR (prompt is on back board) (Projects turned in at the beginning of class on Wednesday will receive extra credit)

7 Pre-AP Today’s Goals: 11/17
Previously: Finish Writing (Original) Expository Report Write SAR Prompt: How does the image/graph/chart substantiate the opinion in the article? Example: This images/graph/chart substantiates the opinion that ___________________. According to the text, “_____________.” This shows/explains _______. Write Captions Prompt on rubric (Projects turned in at the beginning of class on Wednesday will receive extra credit)

Finish Project If you are finished with the project, please work on any other homework or missing work you may have. SAR Format: This images/graph/chart substantiates the opinion that ________________________. According to the text, “_____________.” This shows/explains _______________. SAR Example: This pie chart substantiates the author’s opinion that purple is the best color. According to the text, “A recent survey showed that 75% of people preferred purple over any other color.” This shows that the majority of people believe that purple is better than other colors. This graph allows the reader to better visualize the percentage in the article. (Projects turned in at the beginning of class on Wednesday will receive extra credit) .
