The Four Native American Cultures in Texas

Southeastern Cultures
A. Caddoes, Wichitas, Atakapan, Cherokees, Alabamas, and Coushattas B. These Native Americans were farmers, because the region in which they lived was well suited for agriculture.

II. Puebloan Culture A. Jumanos and Tiguas B. These Native Americans tried to farm, but had problems with irrigation. They were also known for their homes that were on the sides of cliffs or on top of mesas.

III. Gulf Culture A. Coahuiltecans and Karankawas B. These people had problems with marshy lands along the coast that made farming difficult, therefore: they were nomadic.

IV. Plains Culture A. Tonkawas, Apaches, Kiowas, and Comanches B. These people were nomadic, and were mainly hunters of buffalo.
