Average Western blot band density for BDNF (top) and IL-1β (bottom) observed in sputum cell lysates for subjects grouped by <2% eosinophils + <40% neutrophils (Neither), <2% eosinophils + ≥40% neutrophils (Neu), ≥2% eosinophils + <40% neutrophils (Eos), or ≥2% eosinophils + ≥40%neutrophils (Eos+Neu).
