About Ms. Gordon I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. I am highly qualified in Middle Grades Language Arts through the National Evaluation Series. I have a Structured English Immersion endorsement. I’ve lived in the following states: California, Oregon, Illinois, Colorado, and Arizona. I’m passionate about learning, children, and animals. 7:28 AM

Some Team Information…
Akimel-A-al’s 7th Grade Refocus Program A proactive not reactive approach to discipline. Prompt attention to the “little stuff” often prevents the “big stuff”. Students are given 1 verbal warning to correct their behavior. If the behavior continues, the student is asked to leave the room to fill out a refocus form which helps them reflect on the behavior and what their corrected behavior should be when they return to class. 7:28 AM

Progressive Discipline
Students will be given only six (6) refocuses per school year. Students are allowed one(1) refocus a day. If a second issue occurs the same day a student will be sent to ISI. Students are allowed only (2) refocuses a week. If a third issue happens during the same week students will be sent to ISI. 7:28 AM

Goodbye Language Arts on Aims
For language arts, AIMS is no more. I cannot answer any questions about this at this time due to the decisions being made by the state. The new test will be determined this fall. 7:28 AM

Materials Needed Personal novel that’s appropriate to seventh grade reading level. This can be checked out in the library or through my classroom library. Personal Novel All students are required to have a personal novel at all times in their backpack. All subjects on our team require this. 7:28 AM

Online Grade Access Parent Vue is available for your use. Use this to keep track of your child’s grades. if you need a user name and/or password. Classroom Website Please check our 7C website on the Kyrene website regularly to visit our homework calendar. Assignments will be updated to the homework calendar regularly. Check my personal website on the school’s site for important information and wish list items. 7:28 AM

Absences It’s the student’s responsibility to obtain the information and assignments they missed. Students have 1 school day for each day absent to complete missed work (this applies to homework, notes, classwork, quizzes, and tests) Please let me know if student will be absent ahead of time. 7:28 AM

Miscellaneous… Students will have vocabulary test every Friday. Please let your child use the computer for school uses. There are many assignments that your student would greatly benefit with the use of a computer. Your child’s attendance is extremely important! Learning lab is available for students who need extra time to complete their assignments. It is offered EVERY morning at 7:30am. 7:28 AM
