NASA has promoted the development and growth of small businesses in WV by requiring its major technical  contractor give 30% of the work to small businesses.  IV&V has seen multiple small business thrive and grow into larger companies broadening their work into other Federal agencies like the FBI, DOE, and NOAA.
Several years ago, NASA’s IV&V Program collaborated with the Super Computing Consortium (SC2) in Pittsburgh, Fairmont State University, and local industry to bring a high-capacity fiber optic communications capability to the Fairmont technology park.  This capability provided necessary connectivity between the Fairmont technology park and the major networks allowing NOAA and others to locate to the area.
NASA’s IV&V Program collaborated with NOAA to bring back-up systems to the IV&V facility years ago, and because of that excellent relationship, NOAA has greatly expanded in the area establishing critical components in Fairmont.
Dedicated to meeting the Agency’s strategic objective of advancing the Nation’s STEM education and workforce pipeline.  The IV&V Program’s Education Resource Center (ERC) works collaboratively with others within WV to improve the quality of STEM education in WV, inspire students and teachers in STEM areas, provide hands-on experience in NASA’s work, and provide intern and employment opportunities locally.  NASA’s IV&V Program collaborates with WV Universities and Colleges to provide professors and students opportunities to build and launch satellites or build robots stimulating and enhancing the education process in WV.
