SHSAA Modifications / Exceptions - Uniform
FOR ALL LEVELS OF HIGH SCHOOL PLAY The FIBA rules have changed regarding uniforms and undergarments. The SHSAA has approved a set of modifications to these rules in consultation with the Saskatchewan Association of Basketball Officials Uniforms & Undergarments – Approved to wear A compression undershirt with short sleeves or sleeveless only, if it is the same dominant colour as the jersey, or black, or white, but all players on the team must wear the same colour. Wearing a T-shirt is allowed if it is the same dominant colour as the jersey and the sleeves are hemmed and not frayed. Compression underwear with short legs only which end above the knee, if it is the same dominant colour as the shorts, or black, or white, but all players on the team must wear the same colour.

Examples – Compression Shirt
PERMITTED NOT PERMITTED A compression undershirt with short sleeves or sleeveless only, if it is the same dominant colour as the shirts, or black, or white, but all players on the team must wear the same colour.

Examples – T-Shirts PERMITTED Wearing a T-shirt is allowed if it is the same dominant colour as the jersey and the sleeves are hemmed and not frayed.

Examples – Leggings PERMITTED NOT PERMITTED
Compression underwear with short legs only which end above the knee, if it is the same dominant colour as the shorts, or black, or white, but all players on the team must wear the same colour.

FOR ALL LEVELS OF HIGH SCHOOL PLAY Leg Compressions As noted on slide 1, full leg compressions going past the knees are not allowed Leg compression sleeves are allowed if they and are the same dominant colour as the shorts, or black, or white, and whereby all players on the team must wear the same colour. PERMITTED NOT PERMITTED

FOR ALL LEVELS OF HIGH SCHOOL PLAY Arm Compressions Arm compression sleeves are allowed if they and are the same dominant colour as the jersey, or black, or white, and whereby all players on the team must wear the same colour. Headbands Headbands are allowed if they are the same dominant colour as the jersey, or black, or white, and whereby all players on the team must wear the same colour. Bandanas or loose-fitting headwear of any kind are not allowed (unless approved for religious purpose, see slide 7) Athletic Tape Athletic Tape or K-Tape may be of any colour Athletic Braces (knee, ankle, wrist) Athletic braces may be of any colour Socks Socks may be of any colour

FOR ALL LEVELS OF HIGH SCHOOL PLAY Team Requirements All undergarments must be the same colour for ALL players on the team EXAMPLE: If one player is wearing black kneepads, then all players on that same team must wear black undergarments (headbands, kneepads, compressions shirts, compression shorts etc.)

EXCEPTIONS TO UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS ABOVE
FOR ALL LEVELS OF HIGH SCHOOL PLAY Exceptions can be made to the rules above with approval from the SHSAA office: Uniform exceptions for medical reasons or religious purpose Headwear can be worn for religious purpose as long as they are deemed not dangerous to the player or other players
