Staff is prohibited from opening exterior doors for anyone who is not a CCISD staff member as per local policy.

10 Volunteers Wanted Dr. Tomas Rivera Elementary
REALLY needs parent volunteers to: Help our school by participating in Parent Advisory Committee, PTO, Campus Site Based Decision Committee. Assist with supervision at recess, lunch, dismissal, etc. Volunteer in classrooms, the office, and so much more. Please see our Parent Liaison, Mariza Urrabazo, for more information on becoming a CCISD volunteer.

11 Attendance….every day, every minute counts

12 Improvement Required Status: We need parent input and feedback!!!!

13 For the 2017-2018 School Year: Dr
For the School Year: Dr. Tomas Rivera has been rated Improvement Required by TEA So what does that mean? Dr. Tomas Rivera Elementary is the feeder campus into Zavala Elementary, and the two campuses are “paired” together. During the Spring 2017, Zavala Elementary, due to 3rd & 4th grade STAAR Math, Reading, & Writing assessments, did not meet standard, which means Rivera Elementary did not meet standard. In other words, Zavala’s STAAR scores are Rivera’s STAAR scores. The district coordinator of school improvement for Crystal City ISD is Ms. Irma Martinez.

14 So how did this happen? Rivera & Zavala were combined into one campus = TRZ (101) = Year 1 IR = Year 2 IR = Year 3 IR Rivera Assigned #(101) Zavala campus (106) = Year 4 IR = Year 5 IR = Year 6 IR = no rating (NEW CAMPUS #) = Year 1 IR = Year 2 IR

15 So why do we need your help?
One of the TEA required sanctions for Rivera is for our campus leadership team to write a Campus Turnaround Implementation Plan. Essentially a plan of action to increase student achievement at our campus. A HUGE component of this plan is to inform parents of the goals, components, and initiatives of the plan, and to ask for their input, suggestions, feedback to ensure the best plan possible is put into place this year.

16 Rivera Campus Turnaround Implementation Plan
Your child’s teacher has a handout with a breakdown of the proposed Turnaround Plan components Please take the time to review, write any comments, suggestions or feedback on the form, and sign your name. We understand that this is A LOT of information, if you have any questions, please feel free to meet with any member of the admin team who are available this evening. You may also contact our district coordinator of school improvement Ms. Irma Martinez by at or by phone at extension 128
