12 Goals, Objectives and Tasks
Goals – Aspirations, Long term, Umbrella of several objectives, Try to complete in 5 to 10 years, May never be completed, Overall goal is to improve UMKC Objectives - Its completion will help achieve the goal, Can be completed within 5 years, Requires multiple steps or tasks, multiple people Tasks (not included in plan) - Help to complete the objective, Has a clear beginning and end, Usually can be completed in less than one year, Usually requires one or a small number of people to achieve. Will be part of implementation of plan.

14 Metrics Will not be arbitrary (20,000 by 2020)
When available, we will look at our standing compared to our “operational peers” and “aspirational peers” Numbers still need to be determined. When available, we might try to move to the next quartile in the next 5 years, two quartiles in 10 years. When not available, look for statistically significant shift.

6.1 Develop long-term planning processes for operating and capital needs 6.2 Create measures of accountability visible to all stakeholders 6.3 Develop processes, practices and policies that ensure efficiencies and collaborations across the four campuses of the UM System 6.4 Change organizational structures to achieve the objectives of research, teaching and engagement mission 6.5 Increase revenue to replace state appropriations 6.6 Improve compliance and risk mitigation systems

22 Implementation Strategic plan will be sent to UM system in May.
After system approval, an implementation committee will be set up.
