KESA Visits Prior to visit: complete KESA Initial Application items 4 – 15.1 Provide a copy of KESA Initial Application to your chair and OVT Onsite visits are to be completed by end of April Year 5 districts should have their visits completed by April 15th Chair and OVT for your system should have been determined

Dedicated Accreditation Telephone Support Calls for all Systems: Years One – Three Years Four – Five Trainings for all Systems in development for Fall 2018 KESA regulations still going through the legal review process will help in developing a Q and A support page on website

Have met twice and will meet again on February 21st Discussion Topics Understanding KESA Model Expectations for Accreditation Recommendation Criteria for Accreditation Identification of Data Needed for Accreditation Determination

8 Accreditation Advisory Committee (AAC)
Have met twice and will meet again on February 5th Discussion Topics Guidelines for KESA Regulations (preliminary discussion) KESA Application and Updates Evidence for KESA Rubrics Accreditation Criteria Guidance Regs – Impact, clarifying questions and suggestions for guidance

Continue collaboration with Service Centers and KELI Revise training for rollout Fall 2018 Survey to Chairs and OVT members re training Chair Fact Sheet in development (Mid February) Support Call for Chairs working with Systems in Years 1-3 Zoom for Chairs working with Systems in Years 4 and 5

11 TEACHER LICENSURE UPDATE

12 State Board approval of Pilot
TVSC Recommendation: two-year statewide pilot of alternative pathways for both elementary education and high incidence special education. Limited Apprentice License issued as participants meet eligibility requirements - may then be assigned as the teacher. Complete an approved program within two years - extension based on extenuating circumstances allowed. Statewide pilot reviewed and evaluated after two years.

13 Elementary Degree District identifies candidate
Verify enrollment in an approved elementary program Fall Semester (or 1st semester of program) - Complete a Field Experience while enrolled in coursework Spring Semester (or 2nd Semester of program/hire) – Issued a Limited Apprentice License Must complete entire program within two years

14 Special Education Degree
District identifies candidate - at least one year as a paraprofessional Verify enrollment in an approved program for High Incidence SPED Fall Semester or 1st semester of program) – continue as Para and complete 6-9 credit hours Spring Semester (or 2nd Semester of program/hire) – Issued a Limited Apprentice License Complete entire program within two years

15 TVSC Identified Positives of Recommendation:
Flexibility to districts to CHOOSE qualified individuals based on their needs – grow your own Allows degreed person to be Teacher of Record (TOR) after one (1) semester Provides experience and pedagogy before they are TOR Flexibility to candidates in choosing program, gaining a way to licensure Provides solution for districts who are already using degreed/non- licensed as TOR. Career path for Paras Can apply for regent grants

Middle level generalist endorsement Added by testing Math: Basic Advanced Pre-Kindergarten: Elementary will be PreK-6 New add-on endorsement for prekindergarten generalist
