2. Helmets Helmet were used to protect the head during battle.
They were made out of steel and brass.
Earlier helmets had cheek flaps to protect the side of the face and head.

3. Shields Shields were made out of iron
They also had a conical-shaped piece in the center called an umbo, or shield bosses
Umbos were usually made from thick metal or wood
A male warrior would usually have handled these shields with a metal handle

4. Body Armor
The main type of body armor during Anglo-Saxon times was the mail
Made out of cutting thin strips of iron, the armor protected from the top of the head to below the knees.
Oil-tempered made it more resistance to rust and made it stronger
Had holes punched in it for breathing
