Gods and Goddesses of Greek Mythology SpringBoard 1.19

2 Mythology Brainstorm names and places that might be associated with mythology. These could be from books, movies, products, etc. Be prepared to share with your group. What is a Myth? A story from the past involving gods or heroes. Myths often explain beliefs, customs, or mysterious natural phenomena or identify acceptable and unacceptable behavior. What is Mythology? 1. The system of myths told by a given culture. 2. The study of myths in general.

3 Overview of Greek Gods and Goddesses
Work with your partner to fill in information about the Gods and Goddesses listed on page 50 of your SpringBoard book. You may use previous knowledge, your device, or other resources. You will be given twenty (20) minutes to complete it. Include: Responsibility or role (of what were they the god?) Similar God or Goddess from another culture. **Do not use Roman. Roman mythology is equivalent to Greek mythology. The Romans simply changed the names of the gods.

4 Selecting a God or Goddess for Research
Now that you have basic knowledge of the Greek gods and goddesses, you will select one for further research. Think about one of the gods that interested you. The point or research is to find out what you don’t already know, so don’t choose with which you are very familiar. Research Project Process: Overview the requirements on the rubric handout. Outline a research plan to ensure all requirements will be met. Think of the who, what, where, when, why, and how questions that should be addressed in a summary. Conduct research from reliable sources to find answers to your research questions. Create a Glogster Poster about your God.
