St. Louis

Location St. Louis, Missouri is located at the confluence of two of the world’s great rivers, the Mississippi River and the Missouri River. St. Louis has a diverse multi-cultural population, and is known for architecture, sports, historical sites, and other aspects that draw visitors from around the world. The city’s popular nickname is “Gateway City”, as it is seen as the Eastern/Western US dividing mark. St. Louis is also called “Gateway to the West” on behalf of the many people who migrated west through St. Louis via the Missouri River, the first leg of the Oregon Trail.

Location St. Louis has long been associated with great ragtime, jazz and blues music. Early rock and roll singer/guitarist Chuck Berry is a native of St. Louis, and soul music artists Ike Turner and Tina Turner and jazz innovator Miles Davis began their careers in nearby East St. Louis, Illinois.

Sightseeing The Gateway Arch - The only building in the world based
on the catenary arch, it stands 630 feet tall and is 630 feet wide at its base. The Old Courthouse - the site of the local trial in the historic Dred Scott case. Museum of Westward Expansion - exhibits on the history of the St. Louis riverfront, and the tram loading and unloading areas for the Arch. Forest Park - Opening in 1876, Forest Park is home to the St. Louis Zoo and the St. Louis Science Center.

Entertainment The Gateway Arch Riverboats allows visitors to take a ride down the Mississippi River on a 19th century replica steamboat. Cardinals Baseball- Many groups enjoy taking in a Cardinals baseball game at beautiful Busch Stadium. Some have been able to perform the national anthem.

Entertainment NASCAR Speedpark includes 4 race
tracks, NASCAR silicone motor speedway simulators, a rock-climbing wall, laser tag, mini golf and more. Bonne Terre Mine - The world’s largest man-made cavern located 100 feet underground. Named a National Geographic “Top 10 Adventure” destination. Grant Farms - Founded by President Ulysses S. Grant, the farm is the 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family and it’s famous for its breeding of the world famous Clydesdales.

Entertainment Six Flags St. Louis is included in the
Heritage Festival package. The park is located in Eureka, Missouri, 30 miles from downtown St. Louis and opened in Screamin’ Eagle, once the fastest roller coaster in the United States opened in 1976 and is still a park favorite. Six Flags St. Louis is the location of the Awards Ceremony.
