What’s the Buzz In Second Grade? September 8th, 2016 We are Learning:
-Cursive letters c, d, g -About God’s eternal being -Previewing our Spelling List #4 -Reviewing special sounds, blends -About government and community -Reviewing shapes, money, halves -Reviewing labelling SN and V (Shurley English) -About our first book report: Community Helpers Important Dates: -Chess Club starts this Tuesday, Sep. 13th (I’m the sponsor! 1:30-2:15 every other Tuesday) -New Parent Breakfast September 14th -Our Bike day is tomorrow for training, so make sure to bring them in the morning! -Casual Days September 13th and 15th -BA (9 points) is due Sep. 14th! A Note from Mrs. B Hey there from the beehive! This short week has absolutely flown by and boy has it been crazy busy in our beehive! We have bikes for tomorrow’s triathlon training so make sure to bring them in the morning as well as a water bottle! Book Adventure updates are going home today, so please make sure your little honeybee is on track for what they need by next week. Generally, they all are doing very well so far! Just a side note, some books are registering as Not BA, so make sure to confirm that the books your child is quizzing on is BA. I can’t give them points for these books. I hope y’all have a BEE-autiful weekend! Love in Christ, Mrs. B Additional Information -The “homework packet” is coming home today. Each Thursday you will receive a packet of information as well as homework in your child’s weekly folder. -The Olympics assignment is due September 22nd—don’t wait until the last minute; it’ll sneak up on you! Any questions? Feel free to me! -Book Report Info is going home today! Make sure to read through all of it, and get started on making possible choices with your child!

Reminders: -Please send your child’s folder to school every day with the behavior chart signed, including Fridays. Homework checklist should be signed as well and turned in the following week. Items to put in folder: notes for Mrs. B, permission slips, money due, library books that need to be returned to the library or Mrs. B’s library, and of course homework. -If your child has a book out from Mrs. B, they can have them out for two weeks. After two weeks, Mrs. B will come buzzin’ for them! -Library was on Tuesday, with our wonderful librarian, Netta! Make sure you’re staying on top of your BA points! Happy Belated Birthday to Cole! (Aug 31) Also, Happy Birthday to Zachary! (Sept. 13) Don’t forget to have your child review Phonics Charts and read for 15 minutes every day! Save the cursive chart, Book Adventure password and phonics charts all year for when your student is working on HW! Spelling Words (Test Tuesday, September 13th) Fry Dress Frost Press Free Print Tree Prize Treat Grass Trust Grape Brush From Brave OF Cross Creek Dry Drop Homework: Your child may turn in HW all in on Monday or on each due date throughout the week. If any additional HW is assigned during the week in class, you can find it in the folder! Please check the folder every day and remember to send it to school daily as well. Reading- Read for min every day! Book Adventure-Get those points!(9 due by September 14th); Book Report (Community Helpers)- Due Oct. 11th Math-Page (Due Mon, Sep. 12th) Spelling- Page eight and activity on back (Due Tues, Sep. 13th) Phonics- Study for test on Thursday! (Guide attached) Grammar-Classroom Practice 4 (3-1)(Due Mon, Sep. 12th) History-Study for test on Wednesday! (Guide attached to be completed with help from a parent; Due MONDAY, Sep. 12th) Cursive-Finish pg. 6 (Due Tues, Sep. 13th) Bible- Memory Verse: Psalms 19:1-2 AND Monthly family assignment due Sep. 27th Other- Olympics Assignment (Due Thurs, Sep. 22nd)
