5 Comments on Pedestrian Walkway along S. Floyd St
Comments on Pedestrian Walkway along S. Floyd St. from UL campus to Stadium Student Parking Comments The attached slides document existing dangerous conditions UofL students face in the current form of pedestrian walkway to Stadium Student parking. Slide 2 shows overgrown vegetation blocking the sidewalk near the Algood Facility. This makes it difficult for pedestrians to pass and impossible for a wheelchair to pass. Slide 3 shows the abrupt end of the sidewalk heading south, forcing pedestrians into the street – yet this is signed as a Pedestrian Walkway.

6 Comments on Pedestrian Walkway along S. Floyd St
Comments on Pedestrian Walkway along S. Floyd St. from UL campus to Stadium Student Parking Comments Slide 3 shows the worn path through overgrown vegetation as evidence of pedestrian traffic. Slide 4 shows a dangerous situation facing pedestrians walking north from the Stadium to campus. The sidewalk leads directly to the railroad and ends. There is no railroad signal for pedestrian traffic. Pedestrians are forced into the roadway and have no warning of train traffic. Large Truck traffic on S. Floyd St. makes walking in the road dangerous.

7 Pedestrian Walkway: S. Floyd St
Pedestrian Walkway: S. Floyd St. from UL campus to Stadium Student Parking Conclusion Existing conditions of the pedestrian walkway are poor and poses a hazard to Student pedestrian traffic. Need: Maintain trimming of vegetation and grass to make walkway clear. Need: Pave walkway from Stadium to existing sidewalk near Algood facility. Railroad crossing along the designated pedestrian walkway is not marked for pedestrian traffic and has no pedestrian warning signals or control. Need: Create safe pedestrian crossing of railroad Large Truck traffic on S. Floyd St. makes walking in the road dangerous. Need: Designated safe walking path that does not force pedestrians into roadway traffic.
