2 Budget and Projects Budget - $13,000 based on Club Fundraising such as Rose Day that can support International Projects Projects: Guatemala Literacy - GLP - Wheels for Learning - RC Gravenhurst South Africa Resource Centre - RC Cape of Good Hope San Andreas Literacy - RC San Andreas Uganda Clean Water - RC Slippery Rock

3 Guatemala Literacy -GLP Lead - Colin Thacker
$464,292 Total Funding with $4000 CDN from RC North Bay Global Grant # , hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Valle de Guatemala (D-4250) & Glenview Sunrise, IL. (D-6440) This grant is funded by 106 clubs and 25 districts in 6 countries: $166,381 Club/district cash contributions $107,360 District Designated Funds (DDF) $190,551 TRF match $464,292 = TOTAL GLOBAL GRANT FUNDS

4 GLP Who Benefits? 40 Culture of Reading Program (CORP) schools with 157 teachers and 4,100 students 11 textbook schools with 55 teachers and 917 students 2 computer centres with 2 teachers and 378 students Provides gift of literacy, education, and technological training for a total of 5,400 indigenous children and young people in the Western Highlands of Guatemala.

6 Wheels for Learning- WFL Lead - Bill White
RC Gravenhurst Club Project for 5 years - RC North Bay has supported WFL for many years - $ Transportation is major barrier to education for poor, rural children who often have to walk more than 10 Km to school Rotary Wheels for Learning Team 2016 is distributed 850 bicycles in four provinces of Cambodia; Battambang, Siem Reap, Takeo, and Koh Kong. In Baval District province, at the school/village, 110 bicycles were donated in the name of Rotary Club of North Bay

8 South Africa- Resource Centres Lead - Ken Peake
Projects sponsored by RC Cape of Good Hope Funding was 50/50 between Rotary and Businesses - RC NB $ Provides support and counselling in a very poor Township with high rates of poverty and drug abuse Direct supports to abused women, meals for children and safe haven for study/homework Plaque on Centre recognizes RC North Bay

With RC San Andreas, provide school supplies to low income children Helps poor families overcome barriers to education Focus in 2016 was on aid to children of inmates Funding $1500

Plaque in Recognition of Rotary Club of North Bay

13 Uganda Water Project Leads- Ken Peake, Bill White
Slippery Rock Rotary and the Rotary Club of Lukaya, Uganda developed this project which supports the expansion of the Mustard Seed Academy and provides clean water to near-by residents in Lukaya. The Global Grant provided: 1. Drilling of two wells 2. Water distribution system 3.Wastewater management 4. Rain water storage 5. Toilet block construction. Total Funding as a Rotary International Grant - $137,500

Before, Hauling Water was a Daily Task for Children Estimated that 2000 persons benefit daily from this Project First Graduates from School with upgraded Water and Sewer that provides water to surrounding Community
