This number model shows ten groups of ten. Can I trade these ten for one hundred?

Our number system is made of 10 digits.
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 Each digit has its own place value in a number. Let’s review. Our number system includes digits zero through nine. Each digit has its own place value in a number.

Let’s review our base ten blocks
Let’s review our base ten blocks. Ones are represented by individual cubes. 10 ones make a group of ten. 10 tens make a hundred. (Not sure if I should use the vocabulary cubes, rods, and flats.)

Hundreds Tens Ones Here we have 6 tens and 15 ones. I know that we can trade 10 ones for one group of ten (circle 10 cubes). Now we have 7 tens and 5 ones.

Hundreds Tens Ones This number model shows 12 tens and 4 ones. Since I know that 10 tens is the same as one hundred, I can trade 10 tens for a hundred. Now I have 1 hundred, 2 tens, and 5 ones.
