Planning Resources Slides 3-6 Teaching Resources Slides 6-27 Assessing Resources Slides 28-35 PRESENTATION INTRODUCTION The aim of this presentation is to provide users with a guide to the resources available in the Planning, Teaching and Assessing menu options. This presentation has been specifically designed to assist teacher leaders to take colleagues through these 3 key menu options. Individual teachers will equally benefit from independently going through the presentation at their own pace. The presentation will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. However, it may take longer with group discussion time added in. It is recommended that you download and print a copy of the slides and notes. You can then refer to the notes with the presentation in Slide Show mode. Go to slide 2

Our PLANNING resources describe the content you teach. Our TEACHING resources engage your students in learning. Our ASSESSING resources track your student achievements. MTSonline supports the Australian Curriculum Mathematics, the NSW Mathematics K-7 Syllabus and the Victorian Curriculum Mathematics. Almost all resources in the database are provided inside the 3 key menu options of Planning, Teaching and Assessing. Other web features such as a Lesson Planner and Calendar are also available in the Planning menu but are not described here. Visit the Help Menu>Planning and type in ‘Lesson Planner’ for more on these features. Go to slide 3.

Our PLANNING resources describe the content you teach.
The Planning Menu The content you teach at a year level is provided in a single page, tick-in-a-box Scope and Sequence Planner available in the Planning Menu. The Scope and Sequence Planner lists the content to be taught. The Scope and Sequence is based on the ACM in that it highlights the priority content to be taught at each level. This content is shown in blue italics. The Scope and and also contains other content that should be attended to but is not a priority at any given level. This content is shown in black font. Go to slide 4.

‘Tick-off the content you teach. Blue italics indicate the ACM content priorities for this Year level. While the content in black font is not listed as priority content for the ACM-Year 4, it should not be ignored. It should also be addressed so there is continuity of learning across year levels. This is the Year 4 Scope and Sequence Planner for the ACM. A version also is available for the NSW K-6 Syllabus and VCM. Scope: Because it provides the breadth of content to be taught at Year 4. Sequence: Because there is an approved sequence of teaching priorities (based on the ACM) across the 8 year level Planners. Note re Black Font Topics Most of the content topics in black font has been taught as a priority at one or more previous year levels. Some black font content may also be a precursor to priority content for the following year level. While not items for priority attention, the black font topics should not be ignored. Go to slide 7.

There are 4 assessment options. Select the one to meet your needs. Use the menu to select the Test option that meets your needs. Formative Tests are used across the year and are provided for each topic to be taught at each year level. Summative Tests are used to assess each student’s overall standards achieved at a point in time – generally speaking as close to the end of a school year as possible. National Numeracy Tests are provided to give the opportunity to practise working with Naplan test samples. The EasyMark Tests are not provided by SchoolCentre. However, as we recommend the EasyMark Standardised Tests as the best standardised tests available, we have provided a link to the EasyMark website. Go to slide 33.
