4 Why do we do re-contracting in November for the following fall semester?
Priority to select your own living space for fall 2018/spring 2019 Assignments are prioritize based on the date the housing contract was completed. Early re-contracting puts you in front of new residents and new students You may complete a contract at any time but you will not be able to select your own room after December 1. Click on the link to apply for Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 from Refer to the Self-Selection Timeline to determine which day you will select your space. Once you have logged into the Housing Self Service Portal, click on the Applications menu item. On the Term Selector page, select the appropriate application for the Academic Year Review the housing contract - The housing contract is a binding contract, similar to a lease. Returning students who re-contract do not pay a $100 application fee. Gather all the people that will room together in the same room. Agree on a designee to assign each roommate. Click on the link to apply for Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 from Refer to the Self-Selection Timeline to determine which day you will select your space. Once you have logged into the Housing Self Service Portal, click on the Applications menu item. On the Term Selector page, select the appropriate application for the Academic Year Review the housing contract - The housing contract is a binding contract, similar to a lease. Returning students who re-contract do not pay a $100 application fee. Update your personal information and emergency contact On the Add Roommates page, the designee should send a roommate request to the other roommates. The other roommates should then accept the request on the Add Roommates page.  The designee will go into the Room Selection page, and choose a room from all the rooms that are available. The designee, with all present, will assign each roommate in their specific room. Once the process is complete. All roommates must complete the online application. 8 The Contract 2018-2019 Housing Contract is a legal binding document
Why Live on Campus Housing Contract is a legal binding document What does this mean to you? Who is held to this contract? What are the dates of the contract? Meal Plans A residential meal plan is required for residents who live in IRT and Algonquin. Students who reside in an apartment are not required to purchase a meal plan. Options Same room, Upperclassman and First Year room selection Fill A Suite selection The housing contract is binding, which means if you will be enrolled as a FAU student for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semester you cannot complete a contract and cancel later if you decide you do not want to live campus. All students who are enrolled in 9 credit hours are eligible to live on campus. However, FAU on- campus housing is reserved for students only. if your plans change and you decide to no longer attend FAU for fall 2018 –spring you may cancel the housing contract up until July 1 without penalty. If you cancel after July 1 in there is a $300 cancellation fee. Remember, this is only for students who are not attending FAU. The contract is for the academic year. Students who graduate at the end of fall 2018, are away from campus for an internship or study abroad program can cancel their contract by November 1 for the spring 2019 semester. Why Live on Campus Website: Phone Central Housing office hours 8 a.m – 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fridays *Extended central Housing office hours will be until 8 p.m. on November 1 and November Housing staff will be available until 10 p.m. during Fill A Suite selection in Nations MPR November 6 – 9.
