4 Counseling Office The most efficient way to contact your student’s counselor is to send an with your questions. This way we have the opportunity to research and provide the answer you are seeking. If an appointment is needed, please send your student’s counselor an or call them to schedule a meeting. Counseling Office Hours Counseling Office is open daily from 7:30am - 4:00pm Student Drop in times: Before School At Lunch After School Students may sign up for an individual appointments

8 NCAA Requirements There are very specific requirements for college athletes. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are eligible for Divisions I, II, or III. NCAA requirements are posted on the school website. You may be CSU/UC Eligible and not qualified for NCAA. Be aware that online courses may not meet NCAA eligibility requirements.

11 How to earn credit for a course if I cannot fit it into my schedule?
Zero Period Classes (Limited Options, 10-12th grade) Summer School (Remedial/Enrichment - prior counselor approval required) School Approved Online Courses Independent Study P.E. (for Nationally Ranked student athletes) Community College Classes (Limited space, must be a course FHS does not offer, students must be 16 or older with 2.75 GPA, requires counselor approval) *Only courses required for graduation with prior counselor/admin approval will be placed on FHS transcript.

12 High School Summer School 9-12th grade
Remedial Summer School: Can only repeat course if earned a D or F. VS Enrichment Summer School: Courses you have never taken before. Student MUST demonstrate an “impacted schedule” by turning in a completed course plan from Naviance All courses must be approved by your counselor. Summer School Schedule: June 6th - July 3rd at Cordova High School (8:00am-2:30pm)

13 Advanced Placement/Honors Selection
It is highly recommended that a student’s GPA is a 3.0 or higher GPA for AP/Honors courses. AP/Honors courses are open to all students who meet the prerequisites. Students should only select the AP/Honors courses they really want on their registration form. All students enrolled in AP/Honors courses will be required to complete a contract. By signing the contract students/parents acknowledge that they have reviewed the summer work, course requirements and syllabus. You will not be able to request a schedule change once you have signed and submitted your contract. Summer work may be required - visit FHS website: For Students, Advanced Placement.

Approved School Choice Request notifications will be sent out with instructions on how to complete the registration process tentatively in mid March. New Students to FHS who either live within FHS boundaries or have recently moved here AND did not attend an FCUSD school during , enrollment packets can be picked up from our Counseling Office starting on March 19, 2018 between the hours of 8am - 3:30pm.

18 Student Request Form & Schedule Changes
It is essential that all students seriously consider into course selections during the registration process because there may be limited opportunities to make changes in the future. Folsom High School classes are yearlong. Schedule Change Process 1. If a parent or student believes that there is a compelling need to change a class/schedule, the student or parent should contact the counselor during the published schedule change window (before the first day of school). 2. The counselor will review the schedule change request and pass it on to administration. 3. Administration will determine final class placement. 4. Folsom High does not honor requests for specific teachers or lunches. District Policy: A student who drops a course after the first two weeks of the semester shall receive an F grade on his/her permanent record. (cf Student Records)

19 Schedule Distribution
Students will be able to access their schedule through PowerSchool the week before school starts and/or pick up a copy of their schedule at the Dog Walk. If there is an error with your schedule, you must inform your counselor by submitting a schedule change form so the error can be corrected. All schedule changes will be completed the week before school starts. Courses will be selected for the ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR and in most cases, schedule changes are not permitted after school starts.
