4. Research Essay: How I do it…..
Formative Vs. Summative
The whole process is usually divided into steps
Students get marks for the product; however, they are also marked for process.

5. Research Essay: What they already know…..
At this point, students have already gone through basic grammar such as tenses, conditionals, transitions, and sentence types.
They have already done basic work on paragraph structure, topic sentence, supporting details, examples, and concluding sentences, etc.
Before they start writing their thesis statement, they have worked on what thesis statement is, etc.
They also work on ‘hooks’.

They have almost a week and a half to work on their first draft
They are made familiar with the requirements beforehand
First draft is submitted, marked and reviewed for the final draft
