Distinctively Visual is; Different to the way we’ve studied before.
OVERVIEW The bank robbery scene is in the second run, where Lola goes to the bank for the second time. Lola takes a gun from the security guard and robs the bank (in the first scenario she learnt how to take the safety off a gun.) She escapes from the bank after being mistaken for a hostage. Distinctively Visual is; Deals with film as a language. Allows the audience to find a deeper meaning of universal ideas or concepts, in a creative way Visuals = Creative Visuals = Different. Different to the way we’ve studied before.

TECHNIQUES Symbolism: The gun is the most symbolic aspect in this scene, it delivers a greater impact, contributing greater tension to the scene’s overall atmosphere It also has the traits of desperation and recklessness. As a last resort to retrieve money. It emphasises emotions and characteristics that may not be blatantly obvious to the audience. Through out the scene, there is a large amount of medium shots used, it provides appropriate fixture to see body language, than facial expressions between Lola and her father. Lola stands tall and affirmative with the gun in hand, while her father appeared more vulnerable, as he has nothing in self-defence.

CONCEPTS Time is a concept for everything in life. The movie Run Lola Run clearly expresses that time is of the essence. T: Every decision when committing a crime or anything extraordinary (and to get it right) needs to be precise. However time makes that difficult. Lola is reasoned to only think that she needs to rob and get out. Her ignorance to forget such things as cameras and police are what link the idea of chance to the scene -Her dad mentioned she would get caught but for some reason she didn’t.

concepts L: The driving force that establishes the reason as to why Lola commits such actions is all because of her affection for Manni. The concept of love is subdivided; consider the relationship between Lola’ and her father + Lola & Manni. The Bank Robbery scene portrays to the viewers that Lola considers herself as a dominant individual. This explains why her father treats her so poorly - he sees no reason to fight with someone who believes they are more dominant than them. Manni & Lola are equal in their relationship which makes Lola vulnerable towards what decisions she has to make.
