Gilding Gilding is the technique of applying fine metallic-leaf or powder to solid surfaces such as wood, stone, or metal.

Gilding Modern gilding is applied to a variety of surfaces and by various processes. It is used for decorating picture frames as well as general cabinet-work and decorative painting in interior design.

Wood stains Unless paint is diluted, most paints are used as a solid colour finish. If the designer wishes not to hide the natural grain of a wood by painting it, he/she can use a wood stain.

Water-Based Stains Wood stains may be one of the following-
Oil-based Spirit-based Chemical-based. These are chemical-based stains.

Limed wood Limed wood has been popular in interior design for the last 20 years. It is usually applied to oak wood, where it lightens the normal yellow appearance of the wood.
