1 RWS 100: Workshop!

2 The rest of the semester, here’s what it looks like:
12.1 (That’s today!) Review of They Say/I Say templates, workshop papers 2 and 3. 12.4 Your final blog post is due (on a conversation you had). 12.6 Your charted text AND the first draft of your paper are due. 12.8 Conferences (the Doodle is already up!) 12.13 Last day of class, your updated paper #2 is due. We will quickly review the class, and I’ll answer any final questions. 12.20 Your final paper is due. Post it to your blog by noon.

3 An aside: How I am grading these is different,
And how it’s the same.

4 Let’s review everything required on your third, and final, paper:
1. Establish the rhetorical situation and the relationship between the texts What does that mean?

5 2. Use the They Say/I Say framework (and templates) to set up your own rhetorical situation
All of the templates you can use are on pages Each is listed under a topic to help you find one to use, and the page that you can understand more how to use it. Ah, ok, fuck it, here I printed them out for you… …but if you don’t understand how they’re used, you need to read the chapter they’re associate with so you do understand them.

6 Where does your thesis go?
3. Include a clearly stated thesis which lays out your argument and its relationship to our class texts using one of these rhetorical terms: extends, illustrates, clarifies, complicates, or qualifies Where does your thesis go?

7 4. Keep in mind who your audience is (your academic peers), to craft an argument using language, evidence, tone, and style to persuade them 5. Include evaluation of the texts that you mention, analyzing their rhetorical strengths and weaknesses as a whole

8 6. Utilize at least two rhetorical strategies in your argument
7. Use at least 3 outside sources for evidence to support your argument

9 8. Use an effective structure that guides your reader from one idea to the next, conclude your thoughts cohesively, and edit your writing so it is comprehensible and appropriate for an academic audience 9. Bring your own point of view to your paper and support it! 10. Properly formatted WORKS CITED

10 One last point: 8-9 pages does not include the Works Cited.
