Supporting Student Success ONLINE TRAINING: EASY SEARCH SEARCHING THE LIBRARY CATALOGUE

3 Login to the iPAC using your Last Name as the Client Code and the 4-digit school code as your Password. Click on Login. Please contact ERC staff if you have difficulties logging in.

4 From the My Profile Page, look for the Terms at the top of the screen for options when searching. Most often, click on Home (to go to a general search screen) or simply enter a keyword or words in the the search field to perform a key word search. This will search for all resources that contain that word in the description.

6 Type in your search term, then click on Easy Search.

7 The Easy Search results screen will appear
The Easy Search results screen will appear. The results table lists the call number, the title and sub title, the author, the publication year, the level and how many copies we have. You can scroll through this list. To see the full description of the item, simply click on the blue title found in the Title & Subtitle column.

8 Once you click on the blue highlighted title, full information will be displayed. From here you can add the item to your Bookbag, book the item directly, or go back to the list. Note that the term used for searching is highlighted in the catalogue record.

9 What do the Call Numbers mean?
Call numbers beginning with a number are books. This is the Dewey Decimal number. A letter at the beginning of the Call Number generally refers to a Kit. The letter indicates the subject/topic. For example, ST Kt refers to a Science and Technology Kit. For a full list of all Call Numbers, please refer to our website, erchcdsb.pbworks.com

10 What do the Levels mean? Levels may refer to the Student – Kindergarten, Primary, Junior, Intermediate , Secondary, ESL, Modified Support. Levels may also refer to the Audience – Teachers, New Teachers, Administrators, CYC, Library Staff, Support Staff, School custodians. When known, the Fountas and Pinnell (FP) or other Levelling information can also be noted in this field.
