What is SPTC? www.sptc.org
The SPTC is a U.S. Department of Transportation Region 6 Regional University Transportation Center. The Center was established in 2013 based on an award from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) to conduct a multidisciplinary program of transportation research, education, and technology transfer.

The eight consortium members are:
The University of Oklahoma, Norman | Lead Louisiana Tech University, Ruston Oklahoma State University, Stillwater Langston University, Langston University of Arkansas, Fayetteville The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque The University of Texas at El Paso Texas Tech University, Lubbock
5
In addition, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (Mumbai, India) and Shandong University (Jinan, China) are two international collaborators. LU, UTEP and UNM are Minority Institutions of Higher Education.
6
Purpose The center and its consortium members seek to engage in research that provides solutions for climate related transportation challenges including extreme temperatures, droughts, freeze-thaw cycles and flash floods.
7
Mission The SPTC’s mission is to develop comprehensive, cost-effective and imminently implementable solutions to critical infrastructure-related issues facing the transportation systems of the region and the nation, while preparing transportation professionals for leadership roles in technical and research careers in support of the nation’s infrastructure.
