anarchy democracy representative democracy government direct democracy government The political structure of communities, societies, states or countries anarchy absence of any form of government democracy a form of government in which political power resides with the people (2 types) direct democracy power lies directly in the hands of the people rather than through elected representatives representative democracy a form of government in which the people elect representatives to make policies and laws, also known as a republic (example is U.S.)
