An interjection is a word or phrase used to express EMOTION. Ouch! Whoa! Wow! Oh no! Awesome!

VERBS A verb is a word used to express an action, a condition, or a state of being. There are 3 types of Verbs. Action Verbs Linking Verbs Helping Verbs

Action Verbs An ACTION VERB tells what the subject does.
Physical Action: Run, Jump, swim Mental Action: wish, hope, dream

Linking Verbs A LINKING VERB links its subject to a word in the predicate. FORMS OF BE: am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been, have, has, had

Helping Verbs HELPING VERBS help main verbs express action or precise shades of meaning. Example: Has, have, had OTHER: could, should, would, may, might, must, can, shall, will

An ADJECTIVE is a word that modifies, or describes, a noun or pronoun. Adjectives answer 3 questions: What Kind? Which one or ones? How many or How much? Little Noisy Spicy

Nouns cat A NOUN is a word that names a PERSON, PLACE, THING, or IDEA.
Common Nouns: The general name for a person, place, thing, or idea. cat

Proper Nouns: The name of a particular person, place, thing, or idea. Proper nouns are ALWAYS Capitalized. Morris

Conjunctions A CONJUNCTION is a word used to join words or groups of words. CONNECTORS FANBOYS

Pronoun A PRONOUN is a word that is used in place of a noun.
EXAMPLES: I, you, he, she, it, me, we, they, him, his, hers, my, mine, your, yours, its, us, our, ours, their, theirs
