Copyright Please keep copyright in mind as you research and write your thesis – you may save yourselves problems later if you do (such as when your thesis is put on City Research Online). Resources Copyright Librarian: Stephen Penton - Copyright Library Guide (including ‘Theses’ section) - Websites Copyright Hub - copyrightuser.org – ‘aimed at making copyright law accessible’ Creative Commons licences - (scroll down) It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that permission is cleared to make material available publicly available on the Internet from CRO (e.g., from publishers, archives, museums, authors, deceased authors’ estates, etc.), otherwise it may need to be redacted. We recognise that in some cases it is unavoidable that material that cannot be made publicly available in CRO needs to be included in a thesis (published journal articles is just one example). In these cases this material can either be redacted, or if very extensive, the thesis can be left off CRO. In the case of commercially, politically or personally sensitive data in theses, this can be redacted or the thesis left of CRO.
