Temperature is a measure of how hot or cold something is.
It is the measure of the heat or thermal energy in a substance.
It is the average speed of the particles in a substance.

4. Measuring Temperature
There are two different scales we will use to measure temperature.
Fahrenheit scale – water freezes at 320 and boils at 2120F
Celsius (centigrade) scale- water freezes at 00C and boils at 1000C

7. The lines in between are usually counted by twos
The lines in between are usually counted by twos. However, you will always want to check to see if this is true for the thermometer you are reading. F 90 80 80

Choose one of the marked lines and begin counting by twos until you get to the next marked line. If the number you say matches the number on the marked line then you know the lines on the thermometer are counted by twos. 60
