Weather Set #3

Wind The perceptible (seen/noticed) natural movement of the air, especially in the form of a current of air blowing from a particular direction Example: hurricane, breeze, gale, gust

Relative Humidity The amount of water vapor present in air expressed as a percentage of the amount needed for saturation at the same temperature As temperature increases, relative humidity decreases

precipitation Falling products of condensation in the atmosphere
Examples: rain, hail, snow, sleet

FRONT The boundary between the air masses that have different temperatures or humidity Examples: mid-latitude areas of the Earth , where warm tropical air meets cooler polar air, the system of fronts define the weather and often cause precipitation to form

CLOUD A visible mass of condensed particles of water floating in the atmosphere, typically high above the ground; made from dust and smoke

Dew Point The atmosphere temperature (varying according to pressure and humidity) below which water droplets begin to condense and dew can form Examples: seen on flowers, spider webs, and droplets on grass

temperature The degree of intensity of heat present in a substance or object, especially as expressed according to a comparative scale and shown by a thermometer or perceived by touch

Temperature conversion
Celsius to Fahrenheit:   (°C × 9/5) + 32 = °F Fahrenheit to Celsius:   (°F − 32) x 5/9 = °C
