TUESDAY, September 8th Do NOW:
Solve the following equations: 30 = -5(6n + 6) 8(4k – 4) = -5k – 32 y2 = 121 x2 = 441 Estimate
3
Quick Review Do you remember what expanded form is (also known as factor form)? Explain to your elbow partner what the definition is… Give an example and explain…

Perfect Cubes Quiz coming soon!!!!
Please take notes while you are watching this video. You are responsible for writing and knowing your perfect cubes from 1 – 10. Quiz coming soon!!!!
5
Cube Root Practice Solve the following equations: x3 = 8 n3 = 27
y3 = 125 f3 = 343 b3 = 729 Continue practice with cube roots by estimation. We will use the numbers around the room for this activity.

Cornell Notes – Topic: Laws of Exponents
Today we will take brief notes of the first 5 laws of exponents. Be sure to take detailed notes so that you may use them for practice.
7
The Laws of Exponents
8
The Laws of Exponents: #1: Exponential form: The exponent of a power indicates how many times the base multiplies itself. n factors of x
9
#2: Multiplying Powers: If you are multiplying Powers with the same base, KEEP the BASE & ADD the EXPONENTS! So, I get it! When you multiply Powers, you add the exponents!
10
#3: Dividing Powers: When dividing Powers with the same base, KEEP the BASE & SUBTRACT the EXPONENTS! So, I get it! When you divide Powers, you subtract the exponents!

#4: Zero Law of Exponents: Any base powered by zero exponent equals one.
So zero factors of a base equals 1. That makes sense! Every power has a coefficient of 1.
15
#5: Power of One: Anything raised to the power of one equals itself.
x1 = x This makes sense, because the power shows how many times the base is multiplied by itself.
