9 Math and Reading Performance CURRENT STANDING – (6.3 out of 40 POINTS)
Two components: Part I - Status % Proficient out of 25 points Part II - % Proficient Using VAM 1 out of 15 points Total 40 points

10 Status: Percent Proficient and Above
(5.3 out of 25 points)

11 CURRENT STANDING Part 1 STATUS % PROFICIENT (5.3 out of 25 POINTS)
24% of students proficient reading x 12.5 = 3 points 18% of students proficient math x 12.5 = 2.3 points

12 CURRENT STANDING – Part 2 % PROFICIENT USING Value Added Modeling - VAM (1 out of 15 POINTS)
% Proficient Using VAM Your students are compared to other students that are like them in the state Gender, Race/Ethnicity, Lunch Status, Special Education Status, English Language Learner Status, Full Academic Year Status Considering these characteristics, PED predicts how well your students and students similar to yours should perform. If you meet or exceed the predicted target, you receive a higher percentile ranking…

13 % PROFICIENT USING VAM (maximum 1 out of 15)
24% Proficient in Reading Reading points 3 x .17 = 0.5 18 % Proficient in Math Math points 2.3 x .22 = 0.5 points

14 School Growth – 0.6 out of 10 points

18 Student Growth Calculated for ‘Q1’ lowest performing group (Lowest 25%) and ‘Q3’ highest performing group (Upper 75%) Student’s prior test scores used to estimate how they should perform today Growth is the average change in scaled score points each year “0” means scored as expected + or positive means scores higher than expected - or negative means scores lower than expected

22 HIGHEST PERFORMING STUDENTS (7.2 out of 20 Points)
LOWEST PERFORMING STUDENTS (11 out of 20 points) Only 7 APS Schools Received C or higher in Q1 Growth

24

25 Which translates to...

26 Opportunity to Learn (8.9 out of 10 POINTS)
Two components: Part I - Attendance based on unexcused absences 5 points Part II - Opportunity to Learn Survey points PED sets a 95% attendance target for all schools in the state Total 8.9 points

34 FAQ’s How is growth for 3rd grader determined?
They receive an estimate based on their school membership and on statewide scores of all 3rd graders. How are kids in the bottom quartile (Q1) determined? If student has 3 years of test scores, their quartile membership is determined from year 1 If student has 2 years of test scores, their quartile membership is determined from the prior year If they are third graders or new to PED school, then membership comes from the current year
