Lochee Ward Update Building Stronger Communities 22nd October 2015 Focus on capital projects over the last year.

2 South Road Park Skatepark
Approved ?. Recently signed off design by Skate Scotland/Play Scotland. Currently awaiting a site start date from contractor

3 South Road Park Active Play Area
Approved at council committee in September. Await tenders and site start date

4 Whorterbank MUGA On-site 6th October Tattie Patch going well – plans for an art project on wall at Burnside Street. Pheonix Group developing plans for a community garden on the lock-up site.

5 Menzieshill Play Trail
4 sites identified for equipped play. A trail that connects these sites and the new primary school/community centre campus being developed. Play Rangers now in post to work with local children and families. It is hoped to create natural play stops on the trail as well as upgrading the 4 key sites.

6 Kirk Street Play Area Upgrade
Plan to be on site in early spring 2016

7 Lochee Hub Committee report being prepared. Tender process and a site start date awaited.

8 Menzieshill Primary School and Community Centre/NHS Campus
Plans for the school are progressing well. Final designs and use of shared space with NHS being negotiated. Involvement of the shops etc being looked at. Consultation event held in august at the centre’s fun day. Main concerns from residents in relation to parking, pedestrian safety and traffic flow.

10 Future Issues We have a number of school sites vacant or soon to be vacant. Early demolition or other disposal will be required to minimise risk of vandalism/fire Lochee Primary St. Mary’s Infant School Gowriehill and Hillside Primaries Menzieshill Nursery Menzieshill High School Dryburgh Off-site?

11 Future Play Provision The Lochee Regeneration Forum has prioritised play for the last 3 financial years from their physical and environment allocation. The gaps that remain are at the Beechwood MUGA, Dryburgh and Charleston. There have been significant delays with our previous play projects. Need for realistic timescales – environment dept capacity
