Reminder!! NHS Membership Contracts and Club Dues MUST be submitted to Abhishek by the end of the meeting ! Today is the last day to submit these items for membership, because we are nationally affiliating members soon! The membership contract can be accessed on the website, and dues are $15 per person ( Shirt included)

Membership Requirements
Scholarship- a 3.0 cumulative GPA must be maintained Character- A continued record clear of school disciplinary action. A minimum of sixty (60) hours of service per year (20 of which must be rendered too the school’s NHS chapter.) and 40 to the School towards your graduation Requirement. These hours must be documented through the student volunteer program or by the NHS sponsor. The service hours needed to maintain NHS membership may not be the same as service hours needed to earn recognition in the Student Volunteer Program, particularly if those hours are earned working on NHS projects.

Tutoring If you are in need of club hours, please be sure to attend the weekly tutoring sessions on Monday( D214) and Wednesday( U205) !! You earn one hour for just attending the tutoring session, so regardless of whether there are students to tutor, you will receive your hour!

Parent Workshops We are currently in need of 3 more volunteers to attend the Parent Workshop This Saturday at 8 am ! You will be assisting with the event(passing out flyers, guiding parents, etc).

Brain Brawl The Brain Brawl Competition encompasses all academic subjects, including, but not limited to art, music, language arts, mathematics, the sciences, and social studies. Competition will be conducted as a double elimination tournament, with weekly matches leading up to the final championship match. We need a team of 8 people willing to compete and participate in each competition ! They start on November 2nd at McArthur at 3:30, pizza and NHS Brain Brawl Team Shirts are provided! 4 Hours for attending Each competition, and there are up to 6 of them!

Beach Cleanup 10/08 There will be a beach cleanup on October 8th at Hollywood beach from 9am-12pm As a Broward County Sponsored each sweep, gloves, trashbags, etc are all provided. Don’t forget to bring water bottles, sunscreen, and some snacks ! At N Broadwalk, Hollywood, FL 33019 Sign up after the meeting and at the Cleanup to get your hours! You get 4 club hours.

We are in need of donations of rolls of red ribbons and popsicles! Members and Parents can get up to two club hours through donations ( 1 hour/item and a max of two) The Red Ribbon Week Committee will meet on Friday during Homeroom, so if you signed up to participate, please be sure to attend! Hour Opportunity If you are looking to obtain up to 2 NHS hours, please go to freerice.com. If you answer questions and get up to 4000 grains of rice collected, you will receive one club hour. This is by the World Food Program to help end hunger, and for each question you answer correctly, 10 grains of rice are donated to disadvantaged youth in Africa.
