Weight/Mass Weight and mass means the heaviness of something. For example, I weigh 65 pounds. Some key words are pounds, grams, kilograms, and ounces.

Vocabulary Ounces: An ounce is 28 grams. A hot coco pack is one about an ounce. Pounds: A pound is about a can of kidney beans. You would use pounds to weigh your self. Tons: A ton is 2,000 pounds. You would use to weigh something very big. Grams: A gram is about a paper clip. You would use grams to weigh a mouse. Kilograms: A kilogram is about 2 pounds. You would use kilograms to weigh your watermelon at the grocery store.

Example Problems My boss said not to let the bridge get more than 2 tons. I made it 6,000 tons. Is that over 2 tons? My mom told me not to get more than 56 ounces in hot coco pack. How many hot coco packs would that be?

Example Problem Answers
Yes I did go over 2 tons because there are are 4,000 pounds in 2 tons. I would get 2 packs of coco because there are 28 grams in a ounce. So I would get 2 packs because 28+28=56.
