3 RTVS Radio and Television Slovakia or RTVS is a state owned nationwide public broadcasting organization in Slovakia. It is headquartered in Bratislava in Mlynska Dolina, and has smaller production centres in Banska Bystrica and Kosice. It is led presently by Václav Mika. The organization was founded in 2001 following a merger of Slovak Television with Slovak Radio. Funding for the combined organization is obtained through advertising, government payments, and a monthly fee levied on most individuals registered with electricity retailers and most businesses containing three or more employees. 6 Radio stations in Slovakia
There are 5 FM radio stations: SRo1 : Radio Slovensko SRo2 : Radio Regina SRo3 : Radio Devin SRo4 : Radio FM SRo5 : Radio Patria Via Satellite, DVB-T and Internet SRo6 : Radio Slovakia International It also has digital- only stations: SRo7 : Radio Klasika (classical music)

SRo8 : Radio Litera (drama) SRo9 : Radio Junior ( for children up to age 10) Radio Regina is separated into the three regions of Radio Regina Bratislava, Radio Regina Banska Bystrica,and Radio Regina Kosice. Radio Patria, which came on air in 2009, broadcasting from 06:00 to 18:00 in the Hungarian language, as a service for Slovakia´s largest ethnic minority group living predominantly in the southern districts bordering Hungary.

Multiregional radio stations (covering all Slovakia): Radio Expres, Fun Radio, Jemne Melodie, Europa 2, Radio Lumen, Radio Antena, Best FM. Regional radio stations: Radio 7, Radio Beta, Dobre Radio, Radio Frontinus, Radio Kiss, Radio Kosice, Radio Max, Radio One, Radio One Retro, Radio One Rock, Šlager Radio, Radio Sport, Radio WOW, Zahoracke Radio. Local radio stations: Radio Aligator, L-Radio, Radio Modra, Radio Piestany, Radio Plus, Radio Presov, Radio Rebeca, Radio Rock Republic, and many more

9 Public broadcasting Public broadcasting includes radio, television and other media outlets whose primary mission is impartial public service. Public broadcasters receive funding from diverse sources including license fees, individual contributions, public financing and commercial financing. Public broadcasting may be nationally or locally operated, depending on the country and the station. British model has been widely accepted as a universal definition.

10 The model embodies the following principles:
Provide impartial public service Universal accessibility (geographic) Universal appeal (general tastes and interests) Particular attention to minorities Contribution to sense of national identity and community Distance from vested interests Direct funding and universality of payment Competition in good programming rather than numbers Guidelines that liberate rather than restrict programme- makers

11 Commercial broadcasting
Commercial broadcasting (also called private broadcasting) is the broadcasting of television programs and radio programming by privately owned corporate media, as opposed to state sponsorship. It was the United States´ first model of radio (and later television) during the 1920s, in contrast with the public television model in Europe during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s which prevailed worldwide (except in the US) until the 1980s. Commercial broadcasting is primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements and television advertisements for profit. Commercial broadcasting overlaps with paid services such as cable television, radio and satellite television.

12 ITS HISTORY Czechoslovak Television was founded on 1 May 1953 in the former Czechoslovakia. Regular broadcasting from Bratislava studio launched on 3 November At that time, there was only about 500 TV sets in use. 13 NEWPAPERS PRAVDA is a daily morning broadsheet newspaper, since 1924 published in Bratislava under this title and distributed throughout the Slovak Republic. It has a daily circulation of about Užitočná Pravda is a magazine included with Pravda, published every weekday with lots of useful information

14 NEWSPAPERS SME is a daily morning broadsheet newspaper, since 1993 published in Bratislava and distributed throughout the Slovak Republic.
