1 Investigating Exponential Decay
G, A, C, E, S Mrs. Gorski Per. 4-5

2 Explanation To begin this project we started out with 100 chips.
We put all the chips in the one cup, then we took the other cup and shook it. We spilled all the chips on the desk and took out all the yellow chips. Then, we repeated the process until we had no more red chips left.

3 Exploring the Concept # of toss 1 2 3 4 5 6 # of chips left 100 49 22
1 2 3 4 5 6 # of chips left 100 49 22 7

4 Scatter Plot

5 Drawing Conclusion The numbers on the scatter plot decrease as the number of tosses increase. Each time the cup is emptied, the number of chips you remove is about half of the number in the cup. Formula 100(1/2)x

6 Final Conclusion At zero tosses we had 100 chips. After one toss we had half of 100 and after two tosses we had half of a half of 100 ect. x 1 2 y 100 100(1/2)1 100(1/2)2
