Components of the law:
Guaranteed Coverage: Pre-existing conditions cannot be denied.
Individual Mandate: If you are not covered by employer or program, you must get coverage, or pay a penalty.
Children up to 26: Parents can keep kids on until they are 26.
Healthcare Exchanges: setup in each state to give employers and individuals a way to compare insurance choices.
Government subsides for those who qualify: Low-income households recieve some government help in order to help them buy coverage off of the exchanges.
Government can set terms on coverage available
