Sargon, king of the Akkadians, conquered all of Mesopotamia and set up the worlds first empire
Different lands under one ruler
The city of Babylon was later built near the Euphrates
Became the center of trade
Hammurabi began conquering cities and created the Babylonian Empire
He created a law code using laws from different city- states
The Code of Hammurabi was strict, but marked a step toward fair justice
