1 Do Now: Pick up the calendar when you walk in
Make sure #14-18 is done on EOC PP#2 How Many area formulas can you remember?!?!

2 Triangle Area Puzzle... Cut out all of the triangles, complete the problems by using the formulas we just talked about and find their answers Glue or tape the triangles to another piece of paper the end result should look the way it started!

3 News: Cracking Down Test on Friday May 1st (this Friday)
Last Chance to pass this class and not be a 9th grader again in the Fall NO CELL PHONES (I will take them, no more warnings) You either DO WORK or you do it again NEXT YEAR, your choice! Test on Friday May 1st (this Friday) On Perimeter, Area, Volume

4 Volume of Prisms

5 A prism is named using the name of the base.

6 What is Volume? The volume of a three-dimensional figure is the amount of space within it. Measured in Units Cubed (e.g. cm3)

7 What is the volume of a rectangular prism?
V = l • w • h V = B • h Where B is area of the base Basically we take the area of the figure and multiply it by the height.

8 Find the area of this prism…

9 It is a Cylinder What is this?
It has 2 equal shapes at the base, but it is not a prism as it has rounded sides It is a Cylinder

10 Recall: Area and Circumference of a Circle
Formula to find the area of a circle: The formula to find the circumference of the circle: Circumference is the perimeter (length outside) of a circle. Area is the space inside of an object.

11 Volume of a Cylinder Label the BASE and HEIGHT of the cylinder below:
Base of the Cylinder!

12 Volume of a Cylinder For the Volume of a Cylinder we can write:
V = B(h) (where B is the area of base) OR V = πr2(h)

13 Volume of Cylinders 18 cm 5 cm

14 Find the volume of this prism…

15 Pieces Missing Find the volume of concrete used to make this pipe
Volume of Concrete = Volume of Big Cylinder – Volume of Small Cylinder (hole)

16 Find the volume of the shape...
*hint: What shape is present here?

17 Find the volume of the prism
Find the volume of the right prism.

18 Find the volume of the prism…

19 Find the volume of the prism…
What shapes do you see within the figure that we can break up to make finding the volume easier?

20 Find the volume of the prism…

21 One Last thing… Complete the One Last Thing and hand it into the basket. Pick up the Homework Sheet next to the basket and start working on it.
