Prefixes “Anti-” against or opposite as in antigovernment, which means against the government. “Hypo-” (Greek) under, less than normal as in hypoglycemic, which means lower than normal glycemic index (blood sugar). “Re-” or “Retro-” (Latin) again, back as in redo, which means to do again. “Circum-” (Latin) around as in circumference, which is the distance around a circle. “Over-” (Latin) too much as in overeat, which is eating too much.

Suffixes “-hood” state or quality of as in likelihood, which is the state of being likely. “-most” most as in uppermost, which is the “thing” at the very top. “-wise” or “-ward” manner, direction, or position such as skyward, which is something directed toward or moving toward the sky. “-ify” to make as in solidify, which is to make solid. “-al” relating to as in racial, which means related to race.

Root Words “Astra” (Greek) star as in astronaut, a person who visits space. “Fid” (Latin) trust as in fidelity, which is to be loyal. “Psycho” (Greek) mind as in psychology, which is the study of the mind. “Mort” (Latin) dead as in mortician, a person who tends to dead bodies. “Vid” or “Vis” (Latin) to see as in visualize, which is to see in the mind.

Think of poetry! There is always the clear, concrete meaning of the words and sentences, but there is always hidden meaning too. Both are a part of semantics! Lexicon - all the words that you know in your head and YOUR understanding of them. Disaggregate - to break a work into its individual components and meanings.
