Monday, 30 November 2015 WELCOME BACK! It’s that time again! Acuity has arrived this week and we need to always push ourselves to show improvement. So, let’s set goals! We have an advantage this time, because we have hit a LOT more standards! Task: Review your Acuity Card that is being passed out, decide on a goal that you believe is obtainable yet challenging enough to motivate your effort for tomorrow on your first English test. Your goal should be at least ONE point above your previous score. Think HONESTLY about your own self and what you believe you can truly achieve when giving your best effort. Write this goal into the goal column for both test based off of the previous score.

Tuesday, 1 December 2015 Remember Readers, the hardest challenge of reading is coming across words we don’t know and trying to overcome their difficultness. There are many ways we can do this, by using context clues, prior knowledge, dictionaries, neighbors, etc… Being challenged while reading, really does make you a stronger reader because you have the capability to overcome the challenge. Complete the “First Guess Meaning” for each difficult word that is going to be in our story today without using a dictionary or a device. Your first guess does not have to be correct, but it does need to be completed! Take your BEST guess…

This is known as the “Butterfly Effect.” Man is causing changes in the ecosystem today.

Tomorrow: 1. Fish are poisoned. 2. People must buy expensive fish from the east coast. 3. People can no longer afford fish so they eat more meat. 4. More and more people get high cholesterol. 5.
