Point of View Point of view is defined as “who is telling the story”.
There are 3 points of view 1st person 2nd person 3rd person

1st person Point of View 1st person The NARRATOR is a character in the story Pronouns “I, we, us” are used We are only told what the narrator knows and feels

2nd Person Point of View You use 2nd Person POV when…
you are giving advice or explaining how to do something. You use the pronoun “you, yours, you’re” For example: In order to serve a TV dinner, you will need several items: an oven or microwave and a frozen dinner which you’ve purchased at a grocery store. First of all, you turn your oven to the required temperature setting as stated on the box. Next, you need to remove the dinner from the box and take off the plastic cover. Then you put your dinner in the oven for the suggested number of minutes. Finally, when the dinner is cooked, you’re ready for a gourmet feast

3rd Person Point of View A Narrator who is not part of the story tells the story. Third-person pronouns are used, such as he, she, it, they, and them. There are 2 types of 3rd person Point Of View 3rd person Limited 3rd person Omniscient

3rd person LIMITED The narrator whose knowledge is limited to one character, either major or minor. The narrator reveals the thoughts and feelings of only one character.

3rd Person Omniscient This narrator is all knowing, or omniscient.
A narrator who knows everything about all the characters, including their thoughts and feelings. This narrator is all knowing, or omniscient.

How does this help? Knowing who is telling the story gives you insight into the characters and how they are feeling. POV helps the reader connect to the story.
