The Mexican-American War; The Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo is signed. The approximate “presidency” of Porfirio Díaz. This is a period of internal stability, economic growth, and modernization, yet also repression and political stagnation. The Mexican Revolution. Porfirio Díaz is overthrown. The National Revolutionary Party and Mexican Constitution of 1917 are established. Mexico has recently passed a number of liberal policies, including same-sex marriage. Geografía El Río Bravo is about 1,300 miles long and forms more than half of the 1,900 mile border between the United States and Mexico Pico de Orizaba is 18,855 feet tall and is the tallest peak in Mexico. It is also one of Mexico’s active volcanoes.

Geografía Paseo de la Reforma is a wide avenue that cuts diagonally across Mexico City. It was inspired by the boulevards in Paris Near the Chapultepec castle and chapultepec park. “Grasshopper hill” in Nahuatl, Aztec language.

Geografía El Zócalo / La Plaza de la Constitución is the heart of Mexico City. It is a large plaza where many celebrations and other gatherings of importance are held.

Arqueología y Los Aztecas
La Piedra del Sol was discovered in 1790 in the Zócalo while the Mexico City Cathedral was being repaired. The stone shows that the Aztecs had knowledge of geometry and mechanics. Although the exact purpose and meaning of the stone is unclear, there are religious implications. Recognize this?

The Aztecs were deeply religious and devoted to their gods. The majority of their temples were dedicated to the gods. Templo Mayor was dedicated to Tlácloc, the god of rain and water, and Huitzilopochtli, the patron of the Aztecs and the god of war and the sun. What do you know / think about the Aztecs? Tenochtitlan

Cultura – La Música The music of Mexico is very diverse in its genres and performance styles. It is influenced by indigenous and modern music alike The most popular styles are heavily influenced by folk music and include banda, corridos, norteño, and ranchera.
