ACT Amendments SB315 award amount – Maximum $5, per semester Award amount will be calculated each year based on the average cost of tuition and fees of the 4-year public institutions Award amount will change each year Notification of award amount will be available no later than July 31st of each year Application updated annually by July 31st of each year Tuition and Fees only. Covers the cost of instruction for classes towards the student’s program of study Books and Supplies charges no longer covered. Payment to Institutions at the end of each semester Payer of Last Resort Attorney General’s Opinion dated November 14, 2017

TAG….ANGEAP, YOU’RE IT Attorney General Opinion dated November 14, 2017 determined ANGEAP as the “Payer of Last Resort”. ANGEAP pays the remaining balance of tuition and fees after all other aid has been applied to the student’s account.

Payer of Last Resort SB315 Alabama ACT , PAGE 25, Item (c) “To the extent permitted by law, prior to applying benefits provided for under this section, institutional certifying officials and financial aid officials shall first apply other federal, state, institutional, and third party scholarships and grants awarded to the member for that academic period for payment, but only for classes or courses that count towards the individual’s degree or certificate plan as designed and approved by the college or institution attended for the individual’s declared program of study.”

As of March 8, 2018 submit applications to the Education Service Office Applications should be sent secured (Encrypted) Maintain original for your records Section II of the application is no longer valid and replaced by the ANGEAP REQUEST Form

ANGEAP REQUEST FORM Completed and signed by VA Certifying Rep/Financial Aid Coordinator Submit ONLY to ACHE electronically Notification of eligibility status will be sent to the student, institution and ESO when BOTH the Application and Request Form is received at ACHE

Reminders Letter dated October 5, 2017 from ACHE’s Executive Director to the Presidents of Colleges and Universities for grant waivers due to end of semester payment. Payment to institutions at the end of each semester Processing of payments 2 -3 weeks Spring 2018 payments to institutions by April 27, 2018 ANGEAP application available on website

SB94 AMENDMENTS 2019 Legislative Session amendments as follows:
Dual enrollment for high school students Federal veteran benefits paid directly to students not considered in determining eligibility Amendment to include out-of-state guard members to participate in the program FAILED during the session.
