1 Our God is a Deuteronomy 4:24

2 Statements of God’s Hatred on Sin.

3 Considering Heb 10:26-31 & 2 Cor 5:9-11
26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

4 Considering Heb 10:26-31 & 2 Cor 5:9-11
30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:26-31

5 Considering Heb 10:26-31 & 2 Cor 5:9-11
9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences. 2 Corinthians 5:9-11

6 Considering Hebrews 12:25,28-29 with Deuteronmy 4:24, & Isaiah 33:14
25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, Hebrews 12:25

7 Considering Hebrews 12:25,28-29 with Deuteronmy 4:24, & Isaiah 33:14
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29

8 Considering Hebrews 12:25,28-29 with Deuteronmy 4:24, & Isaiah 33:14
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24 14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” Isaiah 33:14

9 Examples of God’s Wrath Against Sin

10 Adam & Eve To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow… Genesis 3:16a Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: Genesis 3:17

11 The Angels Who Sinned 4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 2 Peter 2:4

12 The People of Noah’s Day.
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:21-23

13 Nadab & Abihu 1 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. 2 So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. Leviticus 10:1-2

14 The Severity of God in the N.T.

15 The Severity of God in the N.T.
1. Jesus warned of eternal life in heaven or hell. 2. All men are warned to fear God not man. 3. Jesus warned of the wicked being sent to a place of ETERNAL punishment. 4. Revelation 14:9-11; warns that ALL the wicked will feel the wrath of God.

16 The Severity of God in the N.T.
9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:9-11

17 Lessons for Us Today

18 Lessons for Us Today 1. We can see the goodness of God, if we are obedient to Him. 2. Or, we can the severity of God, if we choose to disobey Him. 3. The choices are clear, and the lesson is simple, but the application is where “the rubber meets the road”.

19 Conclusion 1. Its time we do more than recognize God’s feelings about sin. 2. It’s time we act and repent, or else, God will act, that has been made clear.

20 Conclusion Consider what Christ said in Luke 13: There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:1-5
