The Power of Holy Spirit series: Her Power in Quietness and Trust
3 Purposes Holy Spirit wants to empower us in quietness and trust

Isaiah 7:1-9 The Sign of Immanuel 1 When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it. 2 Now the house of David was told, “Aram has allied itself with Ephraim”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind. 3 Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field. 4 Say to him, ‘Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.

Isaiah 7:1-9 5 Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah’s son have plotted your ruin, saying, 6 “Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.” 7 Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘It will not take place, it will not happen, 8 for the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is only Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people. 9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah’s son. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.’”

Quietness vs Fallen World…
There are many problems, which can make people lose heart, afraid, shaken, because the world is a fallen world and it cannot give us peace. “Quiteness" is not a situation but a decision. This means that even though the situation seems to be out of control, we can decide to remain calm in the faith. Because of the faith (trust we have in God) we know that we have a God who never disappoints, he is always ready to help in time.

# 1. In Quietness and Trust, we gain strength in the Lord
Isa 30:15 - This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, “Still” – know his power in quietness and trust A calm person can face any problem because he will get empowerment from or strengthened by the Lord. Evander Holyfield story (Philippians 4:13) Failure often happened not because someone is too weak, or the problem is too severe, but because someone lost control (panic, emotional). If we do not calm, we will panic, become emotional, carried away by our own feelings, own thinking and relying on our own strength. Quietness and trust (calm and self control) is the source of our strength that will allow us to give thanks, to rejoice and to do God's Will and Words.

# 2. In Quietness and Trust, we can glorify God
Acts 11: Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” People who do not have self control or cannot be calm in his mind, tend to always be negative, which will make them very difficult to glorify God.

# 3. In Quietness and Trust, we can pray
1 Peter 4:7 (AMP) -- The end and culmination of all things is near. Therefore, be sound-minded and self-controlled (calm) for the purpose of prayer [staying balanced and focused on the things of God so that your communication will be clear, reasonable, specific and pleasing to Him.] Person who is calm, in his prayer not only convey what he wants to God, but also open to hear what God wants to share to him.

Recall... As believers we can remain calm (self-control) in quietness and trust because Holy Spirit accompanies us all the time. To be calm we must believe in His Truth, that the Holy Spirit lives in us and She always be with us and for us. Only those that are calm can see and experience the power of the Holy Spirit who will guide them to the true victory. Holy Spirit guides our hearts to focus on God, this is the key that allows God to show His power. 2 Chronicles 16: 9 -- For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
