Updates Danielson Training for all AoC Principals Assessment
Latest news from the State of Illinois ACT Interims K-2 assessments Priority Standards Initiative Federal Title Funds PARCC will be shortened this year and it will be the last year for PARCC as is. State will create an RFP for redesign of PARCC this year. Impact on tax credits still to be determined.

Danielson Framework for Teaching
FY 18 Pilot adoption of a new teacher evaluation process based on Danielson’s Framework – 68 schools participating! FY 19 All AoC schools will use the Framework for Teaching domains + Catholic Identity to supervise and evaluation teachers. More trainings will be scheduled. Coaching is available for the assessments. See Updates for the link to your Focus account Ask Danielson pilot principals to stand.

Danielson Framework for Teaching
Training Domains 2 and 3: Classroom Environment and Instruction 13 modules: 24 hours Scoring Practice 8 videos (approx. 15 minutes in length + time to add evidence and score) Assessment 2 stages: 4 hours each Total Time Commitment: approximately 30 hours

Teacher Evaluation FY18: Transition Year
New and Returning Teachers 2-3 unscored Walkthroughs 2 Informal scored observations: domains 2 and 3 w/ 1 observation completed before 12/22/17. 1 Formal scored observation using all 5 domains. Pre and Post observation meetings. Teacher receives summative score in the post meeting. Must be completed before 5/11/18. Performance documented electronically on Frontline platform. New and Returning Teachers 1-2 Walkthroughs using the AoC form based on the Danielson Framework for Teaching (FFT). 1 formal evaluation using the AoC form based on the FFT that includes elements of domains 2 and 3 of Danielson and domain 5: Catholic Identity. Pre and post conferences required. Teacher receives performance feedback in the summative meeting. Performance is documented on forms kept in the teacher’s personnel file. Danielson Pilot Non-pilot

Assessments ACT Aspire
Examine and analyze your school’s interim 2 results. Modify classroom instruction/CSIP after analyzing interim 2 results. Interim 3 administration window: March Consider testing Math and Reading only (45 minutes each). Provide opportunities for students to practice the skills needed for constructed responses on the April ACT Aspire summative. K-2 Assessments Six vendors gave presentations to the CAC this past Tuesday on assessments for students in grades K-2 and one Pre-K assessment. Top assessments to review more deeply: Amplify, NWEA MAP and I- Ready. Serravallo books to distribute. OCS Portal great resources. Share and discuss grade level exemplars of test items that require a constructed response. Priority Standards Initiative
Priority standards identified for ELA, Math and Science for grades K-8 by content teachers K-8. Preliminary pacing guides created for priority standards for grades K-8. May 1: gather content teams to discuss and build a shared understanding of prioritized standards. Identify learning targets and skills/content for prioritized standards. Marzano facilitated. June 14-15: Work on developing proficiency scales for ELA, Math and Science with content teams. Marzano facilitated. Federal Title Funds OCS will continue to assist suburban schools to engage in consultation with their public school districts. ISBE will conduct a state-wide meeting in April to discuss ESSA with non-public schools. OCS will send representatives to this meeting and report back. Title I: FY17 carryover will be distributed to schools. Title II A: FY17 carryover is being discussed with the State as ESSA language may be problematic in distribution. Title IV: AoC pooled its Chicago Title IV allocation. Some resources restricted to City of Chicago schools but other PD can be opened to suburban schools: Administrator Academy offering: Crisis Resources, Social-Emotional resources, etc.
