2 Why Should I Get Training?
To give you a set of skills to sell on the job market. If already working it can increase your chances for a promotion & expand your options. Training opens up a world of possibilities. It allows you the opportunity to find a job you like rather than taking whatever is available.

3 What is meant by Upgrading?
It is improving. Adding to or modifying your present work skills to cope with technological, business or social change. Not only will most people change jobs several times in their careers, they will also continually upgrade. Today, everyone upgrades their skills/education.

4 I’ve already got a job. I don’t need training or upgrading.
Dangerous attitude. Workers are being replaced with machines. Passed over for promotion if not up-to-date.

5 How Can I Get Training? Training is available in a variety of trades, occupations and professions through local colleges, vocational schools and private training institutions. Usually outside of work time. Training costs, lost wages and lost leisure time are a few of the sacrifices you will have to make.

6 How can I afford to train or retrain, especially if I don’t have a job?
Canada Student Loan Program Scholarships Student Work and Service Program(SWASP) Social Assistance Recipient Sponsorship Community College/University Bursaries and Scholarships Entrance Scholarships Scholarships/Bursaries based on financial need.

7 How do employers feel about staff taking time to train or upgrade?
Most realize it is a necessary and effective practice that increases company profits and enhances employee loyalty. Allowing employees to upgrade creates a stronger and better company.
